The Broken Glass

 Shattered in pieces

Over the cold dark floor

Lays like a broken glass

Red pieces of my broken heart

I had it broken many times before

And many times I had glue it back

But there is a time in life

When you seat and watch the pieces

And wonder why to glue it back...

A broken glass loose it's beauty

Once broken...likewise the heart!

The Arts of His Hands

His imagination created the life as you see it The beauty of a sky, the powerful rivers,  the serenity of lakes...the tall grass, the breathtaking mountains, the dense vegetations...the arid dessert. The day and the night, the moon and the stars, the scorching sun, the deep oceans, and every creature that walks, swims, or fly.  And he created it all for our eyes to enjoy. To care for. To protect and to love. @Gloria photo Gloria

Do you see His work?

 When you look around

And smile at the beauty

 of a bright sunny sky

When you hear

birds singing on the trees

Or tiny butterflies

Working along

 The industrious bees

Do you sense His love?

Do you hear His voice?

Do you see the works

Of His hands,

The Creation that the Artist

Built for your tiny eyes?

Baby girl, your pure heart

Can see what adults

 forgot to seek!

But here is a secret

You might not know,

You are the masterpiece

Of our God, a tiny gift

To this crazy world

So much potential

To do good and to love

And to honor and worship

The True and Only God.

Amen!

Breaking Water

Motherhood is like that winter storm

When everything comes to a halt

And no one knows what to expect

And things are done, when they are done

The snow creates a white blanket

To lay the child, the baby's head

The wind murmured a lullaby

Of love and care...

The water breaks like falling rain

And droplets freeze in the crystal clear

Window of a hospital bed

Soon, very soon, we should hear:

Hey! Guess what? Baby is here! ©Gloria photo Gloria

The Rose Bud

 A new rose bud comes,

wrapped in a blanket

 of cold and snow

A tiny ray of sun and love

That shines and brights

The darkness  nights

The excitement builds

The wait seems long

Nine months

And rose bud

has not come

What it will be?

How it will look?

Nobody knows

But there will be

tears of joy

for a new life

Another hope

To a better start,

Perhaps...

So much potential

In such a tiny one!

The Cycle

Life is a cycle..or better yet, a series of cycles. We must learn to start, and then, to stop.  Finish and close all cycles and start new ones.  Each cycle is intended to teach us something.  To help us grow. Without that the butterfly will never become who she is intended to be.  The frog will stay a tadpole for ever.  The birds will not break out of their eggshells. I think I am ready to close a cycle and to start a new one. It is exciting after all to discover what the Creator has for me next. I am open to learn and to grow! Let's do this new adventure called life!

The Butterfly and The Flower - Nature Romance

She was a " social butterfly"
They say...
Her days went by
Flying from flower to flower
Tasting the nectar of life
While adorning the garden
With her beautiful wings...
Until one bright day
She found the one
That made her stop
And stay...
She forgot about
All the other flowers
And devoted her love
To the tall, bright, handsome
Cornflower in the corner
And rumors has that
She stays there
Days and nights...
until death due them apart!

The elementary school - (ode to childhood)

Today I stop by this little park in my son old school. Long time ago, in this same place,  I asked him and his classmates what did they want to do when they grew older. I cannot remember their answers, but I recall the joy on their faces. The innocence in their eyes. I recall that they believed in themselves and had not doubts about their abilities to reach their dreams. That is the world through the eyes of children.

As we grow older we loose the ability to trust. Our Innocence erodes with time and disappointments. We become sarcastic and hateful. We question our values and even walk away from God. We loose our faith, our trust, and doubt our  capacity to reach those dreams we had when we were little.

The thing is, we should never stop dreaming. We should remain learners. We should believe in the impossible to be possible. We should take cover under the protection of our Almighty Father. Our souls should always stay " forever young".© Gloria

Life in the backyard -the Mama's nest

 Out to the world

I went

It was a beautiful

summer

Spring like day

My backyard

needed some care and,

Unlike other days,

I was ready to work today

I cleaned the weeds

Here and there

And the quietness was broken

As, out of nowhere

All of a sudden

A fight broke

Between two birds,

Right over my head...

They almost got me in the fight

I must say!

Well, Let me get out of your way.

I left, and almost collided with

A hummingbird!

Hmmm I scratched my head

Busy traffic day around here...

Let me trim that tree instead.

As I started trimming small branches

My eyes landed in a Mama's nest

Oh!

Well, looks like my work

Around here is done for the day!

Breathing

I seat in here and I look at the sky

So perfectly draw by the Artist

The contrasting colors that blends

Over the crystalline waters

In this magical place I observe miracles

With each passing cloud

The scene changes, second by second,

I feel my heart beats

The blood in my veins,

The wind on my face,

The smell of the lake...

And I breathe deeply

Wanting to freeze this moment

Defend it from the evilness of time.

A Second Chance

 365 days we go,

Round and around

The brighten sun

And we end at the exact

Same point we were

In the past year...

But the canvas

Is once again blank

An empty page

To write a newer

And better story

Yes, if we are blessed

To open our eyes

One more day,

One more year,

One more time,

Then we have been

Given a second chance!

(Use it wisely)

Our Stories

We are build up of little stories, experiences that all together craft and make sense of our lives. Like a fragile spiderweb, we work on it day and night, building the bigger story. And then one day we are gone, and the spiderweb will be gone, with it our memories, the little stories that once were so important to us. Pride and ego then will be so unimportant. Material things left behind. And like that old song says, we will be just " dust in the wind".

The Agreement

There was upon a time, a distant planed, where a big flood was sent to punish the inhabitants for their greediness, their mean behavior, and their lack of love and empathy.  Only one man and his family were spare from the punishment, and that man was assigned a big task: to save two animals from each species...well when that flood finally ended, there was the start of a new day...and an agreement was made, that no big flood will ever destroy the planet again. At least no in totality. A rainbow is a reminder of that agreement.

Letters to My Son

Dear child,

It was hard to focus in motherhood while also going through divorce. Yet, listening to your happy laugh always made a difficult day better

I remember a special day that made me so happy. It was your first time at the zoo. You were sat in your umbrella stroller when we entered the Laid Jungle at the Omaha Zoo. Your eyes opened wide with excitement as you saw the indoor trees and heard the different sounds of the monkeys, the birds and other animals in the jungle building. You stepped out of the stroller and started walking with small toddler steps. First with curiosity, and then with excitement.

I smiled. My heart filled with joy. The zoo was that place where we could be happy.  We could laugh, walk for hours and forget about the rest of the world. It was our little special place. Every year, for many years I invested in that zoo membership and many springs, falls and summers we spent quality time walking up and down that place.

These days it makes me sad that the zoo is no longer affordable for single parents like me, because I know how many fun playful times we spent at that place.

Well, this is the first of many letters. Perhaps some day you might read them. Perhaps you might not.

Struggles

 It hurts

Sometimes

To cut the ties

With what you love

Because

Your own sanity

Is at play

It hurts

Like when a bird

Opens the. Cage

And flyes away

And yet

Opening those wings

Feels like freedom

And peace.

But still hurts...

The last Rose

 Fall was here

With colder nights

And yet

She florshed

And stood there

Like the summer

Will never end

Learn her ways

My friend

For tomorrow

Is not here,

Yet,

And yesterday

Was today...

Flourish, shine

Be brave, be bright

Stand tall

Alone,

If you must

But never, ever,

Give up!

The Little Paige

There was once a little paige that pretended to be a king. He ran around pretending. Always pretending. One day he came across a princess and she fell in love of this fake king. Later on she realized he was just a page...but she was still in love with him.

Time passed by and one day the paige met another queen and he decided to chase after her. After all, a queen has much more to offer than a princess. The princess was heart broken for a while but she finally found her way back to her path, and worked in growing and moving up to the next level.

The paige in the other hand fall victim of his own greediness. His new queen was a fake too and had nothing to offer other than lies. All his hopes of greatness were crushed down to the ground and he longed for the true love he once had found in his princess.

Next week is the crowning of an Emperatriz. She was once a princess that did not know her strengths until she met a fake king who was a paige. Ah! The ironies of life. The grass is never green in the other side of the fence. Just water the grass in your side and you will have a great lawn. It takes work and patience! We are constantly changing and growing. Tomorrow you will not be the same than today. Be willing to change. One day at a time. One thing at a time, like a caterpillar.

The Broken Bird

 My heart is laying down

Broken, like a happy bird

That was flying free

And was deceived by

The transparent glass

Of a modern building.

He lays now immobile

Breaking the monotony

Of the concrete floor

With his silent presence

Lifeless, and I look at it

And occurs to me

That there is some beauty

In being dead.© Gloria photo Gloria
